The issue of whistleblower protections and the laws and policies in place to protect whistleblowers has come under significant scrutiny in the last 6 months.
In April 2016 the Australian Bankers Association identified whistleblower protections as one of the key areas to be reviewed under the ABA's wide ranging inquiry in the banking industry.
In November 2016 the Australian Senate referred an inquiry into whistleblower protections in the corporate, public and not-for-profit sectors to the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Corporations and Financial Services for report by 30 June 2017
And in December 2016 the ABA published after consultation their Guiding Principles on Improving Protections for Whistleblowers.
